Visiting Scholar Keynote: “Local Hollywood”
Dr. Courtney Brannon Donoghue
UC Oso Room
12 – 1 pm

Dr. Courtney Brannon Donoghue’s keynote explores the increased importance of international audiences for the Hollywood studios and their evolving strategy for co-producing and distributing local-language films across Europe and Latin America.

Dr. Brannon Donoghue's research expertise includes Conglomerate Hollywood and international operations, local-language productions, Brazilian media, management and distribution cultures, feminist production cultures, and blockbusters and franchising. Her first book Localising Hollywood is based on extensive industry interviews and international fieldwork exploring the localization of Hollywood operations across Europe and Latin America since the 1990s. She is currently writing a new book on gender inequity in Hollywood and the barriers to financing, producing, and distributing female-driven films. She was born and raised in Corpus Christi, and will be joining the faculty of the University of North Texas in the fall as an Assistant Professor of Media Arts.
