Phillip Niemeyer

Bay Hall 3.25 (Editing Lab)

Time TBA

Phillip Niemeyer is an artist, designer and curator of objects, graphics, exhibitions, environments, motion, typography, color, text, events, and ideas—self-initiated and commissioned.

He founded Northern-Southern, an art/design agency and gallery in 2013. Before that he was a principal in the 00s Brooklyn-based design studio Double Triple. Niemeyer's design practice is a platypus, ignoring the lines between curation, design, and art-making, with a special expertise in typography. In this varied career he has directed music videos, both live action and animated, and title credit sequences for television and film.

Most recently, Niemeyer graphically summarized American culture of the decade of 2009-19 for the Boston Globe, and curated a traveling retrospective of the Swiss designer Rosmarie Tissi. As of this writing he is finishing  work on a photographic encapsulation of the East Side of Austin, Texas—100 photos of 100 people, ages 0 to 100—called Where is Here.
